Outstanding and comprehensive climate protection strategies and energy efficiency measures
Berlin, 11.03.2024. Today, the Federal Ministry of Economics honored eight companies as climate protection companies. They stand for exemplary efforts in the field of energy and resource efficiency. Thanks to their strong commitment to corporate climate protection, the companies are pioneers in their respective industries and are helping to achieve climate targets. The eight companies were selected from around 200 applications by the advisory board of Klimaschutz-Unternehmen e. V. in a multi-stage process. The Climate Protection Companies Excellence Initiative now has a total of 69 members.
Stefan Wenzel, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection: "The climate protection companies show in numerous examples that climate protection investments pay off - ecologically and economically. Companies are thus making themselves future-proof and at the same time actively contributing to climate protection. The numerous applications show that climate protection is and remains an important topic in the economy and many companies of all sizes throughout Germany are considering how they can make their contribution to climate neutrality."
Jörg Schmidt, Chairman of Climate Protection Companies: "In order to drive forward the green transformation of our economy, we need companies that are resolutely leading the way towards climate neutrality. It is precisely the pioneers who encourage and motivate others to do the same. I am delighted that the circle of climate protection companies is growing and that we are welcoming eight new members to our association today. The best practices of our members show very clearly what is possible in corporate climate protection."
The companies are characterized by outstanding and comprehensive climate protection strategies and energy efficiency measures. Forward-looking investments in renewable energies, innovative projects in the field of the circular economy and highlighted sustainability communication round off the companies' profiles and stand for transformation-oriented development.
These eight new members were honored today as climate protection companies at a certificate ceremony at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection:

- CHEP Deutschland GmbH (North Rhine-Westphalia)
- Dietz GmbH (Bavaria)
- GELSENWASSER AG (North Rhine-Westphalia)
- KIS Antriebstechnik GmbH & Co. KG (North Rhine-Westphalia)
- Pfeifer & Langen GmbH & Co. KG (North Rhine-Westphalia)
- WEPA Hygieneprodukte GmbH (North Rhine-Westphalia)
Since 2009, the Federal Ministry of Economics, the Federal Ministry for the Environment and the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce have been recognizing companies for their ambitious climate protection targets and efforts in energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies as climate protection companies.
The companies are part of the Climate Protection Companies Association and can advertise with this award. The selection process took place under strict criteria.
