Load securing individually and on demand. How does it work?

My colleagues at allsafe asked me, "Albert, can you explain to the people out there how this works with the production of individual load securing in a 24-hour service?"

Sure, I can! Special cargo requires special securing. Not everything can be secured in the vehicle the way you want with standard locking bars and belts. But what if you want to adapt the load securing to your special needs - and if you also want to put the desired special securing into operation within a short time?

Then you cannot fall back on standard goods that are produced in large quantities in factories in the Far East, shipped to Europe and distributed via intermediaries. Then you are confronted with a situation in which it is very difficult for them to get individualized products, purely in terms of logistics - and if they do, then only with very long delivery times.

But what if your desired date is already in a week or three days?
Then you need an expert for on demand production and delivery.

24-hour service through lean processes

What does on demand production and delivery mean? It means individualized load securing in 24-hour service. Seems a bit utopian at first glance - but it's not. At allsafe, we've built our production process to make exactly that possible. You specify what you need: Length of the safety bar, type of mounting in the vehicle, any straps needed, etc. This can be done on the phone or on site at your premises. In the same conversation you will get a recommendation how your load securing should look like and an offer. This is made possible by a colleague of mine who is also into bits and bytes, the digital configurator, which records all the data during the conversation, configures your securing and prepares it for production. No master data has to be entered, no drawings have to be made. In this way, there is no waiting time for data entry, design and production planning. If you place your order in the morning, it goes into production and delivery the same afternoon - UVV certification included. We plan the occupancy for our production lines so that we always have spare capacity and do not have to send an order to the queue.

Customized load securing: a competitive advantage

Individual load securing on demand makes your planning easier, you save storage space because you don't have to buy in stock, and you have less capital tied up because you don't have to order and pay for months in advance. In vehicle manufacturing, for example, load securing is usually the last thing on anyone's mind. With a 24-hour service, you don't have to procure it until just before you deliver the vehicles to your customers.

A very important advantage of individualized load securing for freight forwarders is that it is easy to handle. For drivers, who already have a very strenuous job due to loading and unloading and the tours themselves, it is an immense relief not to also have to deal with locking bars that are complicated to handle because they are not properly adapted. We also use lightweight materials for our products. This certainly makes a decisive contribution to employee satisfaction. In times of extreme driver shortage, such as we are currently experiencing, this is a competitive advantage for freight forwarders that cannot be ignored.

Last but not least: When it comes to load securing devices, shrinkage is an everyday issue. They are forgotten, lost, stolen, or become defective.

All safe? allsafe!
